Since 1914 the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States has worked to ensure that America's veterans will not be forgotten and those who need assistance will get it. To help achieve those goals, each year donations are made to help make life better for active-duty military personnel, veterans and their families, and America's communities. With nearly 600,000 members in the United States, Guam and Panama, the Ladies Auxiliary VFW actively supports our troops as well as veterans and their families.

GREETINGS FROM THE LADIES OF POST 9271 AUXILIARY;

 

We are happy to report that our membership continues to grow and we have achieved our 100% goal each year since our auxiliary was formed in 2002. Membership now stands at 55. Our mission is to help the members of Post 9271 and other veterans in our community.  We take an active role in supporting the Post’s projects.

 

Some of those activities include helping with the fair stand each year, helping organize the garage sales, assisting at political forums, staffing the concession stand at the Tongie Days Car Show in the VFW Park and our annual New Year’s Day biscuits and gravy breakfast.  Our ladies just recently donated the funds to finish the brick columns on the front of the Post Home.  We also help to maintain the interior of the Post Home.

 

This year for our community service project, our members are bringing food and household items to our monthly meetings that will be donated to the local Good Shepherd Thrift Shop.  We also have members who take magazines and items of clothing to the VA Hospital and Nursing facility in Leavenworth.

 

As you can see, we are a very active group and would encourage anyone who has  a potential Auxiliary member to contact us.  We meet the 1^st Tuesday of each month at

     Ladies Auxiliary VFW Members are:

 

· Wives

· Widows

· Mothers

· Foster and stepmothers (who have performed the duties of parent)

· Grandmothers

· Daughters

· Granddaughters

· Foster and stepdaughters (who attained that status prior to the age of sixteen and for whom the duties of parent were performed)

· Sisters, half sisters, foster and stepsisters (who attained that status prior to age sixteen) ...of persons who were or are eligible for membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. Members must be citizens of the United States and at least 16 years old.

 

Women who are eligible for membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States shall be eligible for dual membership in the Ladies Auxiliary.

The VFW Ladies Auxiliary meets at 7:00 P.M. the first Tuesday of every month in the post home at 910 E. First Street.
